Dutch and British diets in colonial New Amsterdam and New York City

My first attempt to investigate this issue began in the early 1980s, when I analyzed several faunal assemblages from early colonial deposits from lower Manhattan. My study documented that there was a dietary change in preferred domestic species (from pork to mutton) with the shift from Dutch control of New Amsterdam to British control of New York City.
